Forestry Mulching — Case Study
A Bumpass landowner needed 4 acres of heavily overgrown scrub, briars, and young hardwoods cleared before listing the property. Forestry mulching was the right call — one pass with the Case TV450B and disc mulcher, no burning, no hauling, and the mulch layer left behind actually improves the soil.
The property had been untouched for over a decade. Dense briars, 4-6 inch saplings, and thick brush made the land nearly impassable. The owner wanted it cleared quickly without the cost and logistics of hauling debris off-site, and without disturbing the topsoil ahead of a potential sale.
We brought in the Case TV450B tracked skid steer with the disc mulcher attachment. Working in overlapping passes, we knocked down and processed all vegetation in place — grinding it into a fine mulch layer that covers the ground and breaks down naturally. No burning permits, no dump runs, no waiting.
All four acres were cleared in two days. The property went from impassable scrub to clean, open ground with a uniform mulch layer. The owner had the land listed within the week. The mulch layer suppresses regrowth and will decompose into the soil over the following season.
