Tree removal on a lakefront property at Lake Anna, Virginia

Tree Removal — Case Study

Lakefront Tree Removal at Lake Anna

Lake Anna, VA1 day

A Lake Anna waterfront homeowner had three large white oaks leaning toward the house and dock after storm damage. All three needed to come down without touching the dock, the boathouse roof, or the neighbor's fence line. Tight quarters, water on two sides — exactly the kind of job that requires proper rigging.

The Challenge

The trees were 60-80 feet tall with significant lean toward the structures. The dock and boathouse were directly in the fall zone, and the property line left almost no room to work on the landward side. Standard felling wasn't an option — every piece had to be rigged and lowered in sections.

Our Approach

We rigged each tree from the top down, using block-and-tackle to control the direction of every cut. Large sections were lowered by hand to the ground crew, who cut them to length for the chipper. We worked methodically from the crown down, never letting a piece fall free near the dock or structures.

The Result

All three trees removed in a single day with zero property damage. The dock, boathouse, and fence line were untouched. Debris was chipped on-site and the chips hauled away, leaving the yard clean. The homeowner had a clear view of the water and no more liability hanging over the dock.
